32 • VBA JOURNAL PARTNERSHIP YIELDS GREATER BENEFITS FOR VIRGINIA ATTORNEYS Te new L awyers throughout the commonwealth now have access to a suite of property and casualty insurance products, including professional liability and busi- ness owner policies, through Virginia Barristers Alliance, Inc. (VBAI). A new partnership between Virginia Barristers Alliance, its parent organization Te Virginia Bar Associa- tion, and the Medical Society of Virginia Insurance Agen- cy (MSVIA) made this possible. MSVIA will market and service the property and casualty products ofered through VBAI. Policies sold will generate proft that will go back to the VBA to support lobbying eforts for legal reforms and to provide other services for attorneys, such as continuing legal education and other programming for the VBA's winter and summer meetings. Virginia Barristers Alliance has been ofering health, life and disability policies, among others, to attorneys through independent agents for about 14 years. Tis new partner- ship allows VBAI to provide a broader array of insurance coverages that meet the varying needs of Virginia's attorneys. MSVIA has a 15-year track record of providing outstanding service to physicians and will use that same operational en- gine to support the VBAI business "Te leadership of VBA is absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with such skilled professionals as those at MSVIA," said Hugh M. Fain III, a VBAI board member and past VBA president. "Teir experience in prop- erty and casualty insurance makes the partnership a perfect ft." Fain believes there are several advantages to the partner- ship. MSVIA has been successfully ofering property and ca- sualty insurance for many years to physicians in Virginia and therefore has the expertise and the staf to manage all aspects of the new product oferings. Additionally, MSVIA has built strong relationships with carriers of property and casualty insurance products and is highly regarded for its customer service and response times. MSVIA is excited about partnering with the VBA and help- ing to expand its insurance agency, said Carolyn Godbey, MSVIA's senior vice president of property and casualty.
