YOUNG LAWYERS DIVISION BY DANIEL E. ORTIZ CHAIR, YOUNG LAWYERS DIVISION Meetings, meetings and more meetings I like going to VBA meetings. I said it. I joined the VBA at the suggestion of my mentor. He invited me to at- tend the winter meeting in Williamsburg and I have not looked back. Te Young Lawyers Division offers pro- gramming at the winter and summer meetings and also hosts spring and fall meetings. Our meetings feature the busi- ness of the YLD, include CLE programming, and the fellow- ship of a group of dynamic young lawyers. At every meeting, I encounter new lawyers, learn something at a CLE and catch up with old friends. I leave YLD meetings re-energized and recommitted to our organization. If you haven't attended one of our quarterly meetings, I encourage you to consider joining us. SPRING IN DUCK, N.C. Once again we enjoyed a wonderful spring meeting at Te Sanderling in Duck. Te excellent turnout of young lawyers enjoyed the cooperation of the weather. Te meeting provided an opportunity to strategize and plan our upcoming year. Te weekend activities energized numerous committee chairs and new members. Additionally, Judge W. Allan Sharrett of Greens- ville Circuit Court in the 6th Judicial Circuit provided his wis- dom and advice accumulated over his distinguished career in the form of a CLE. SUMMER IN HOT SPRINGS, VA. At the VBA summer meeting at Te Homestead in Hot Springs, the YLD sponsored a CLE titled "A Rock and a Hard Place: Dilemmas that Face Young Lawyers." Several ethical vignettes prompted a lively discussion. As always we played host of our traditional bowling outing on Saturday night. 8LI =SYRK 0E[]IVW (MZMWMSR 7TVMRK )\IGYXMZI 'SYRGMP 1IIXMRK [EW LIPH MR 1E] EX 8LI 7ERHIVPMRK 6IWSVX ERH 7TE MR (YGO 2 ' Photo by Jeremy Dillon FALL 2012 t 5
